Veronika Varga was passed into the Department for Musicology of the Liszt Academy of Music (Budapest) in 2012, where she carries on her MA studies currently. In the framework of her BA-thesis, she explored the life and works of nineteenth-century conductor-composer József Heinisch. Since 2014 she participates in the processing of the sources of early Hungarian musical theatre at the Department for Hungarian Music History of the Institute for Musicology, Research Centre for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Since January 2016, she works as scientific administrator at the same Department. Together with her colleagues, she performs eighteenth- and the nineteenth-century basic research; data processing, digitalization, cataloguing, and evaluation of the National Theatre’s repertoire; research on contemporary press reports; as well as works related to both musical and textual publications in preparation. Currently she deals with the dance repertoire of both the Court Theatre of Buda and the National Theatre, the central venues of Hungarian musical theatre, examining the period preceding the opening of the Opera House (1833–1884).
